The 7.62x54mmR 7N1 cartridge is a match-grade bullet designed for use with sniper rifles. It uses a different propellant and the bullet has a boat-tailed base to aid in accuracy. The headstamp on the case is marked "188" (the designation for the Novosibirsk Cartridge Plant) on the upper arc and the two-digit year of manufacture on the lower arc.
Ammo (in the "real world") comes in 20-round paper bundles (4 layers of 5 rounds) wrapped in brown paper tied with string. There are 22 bundles per green-painted vacuum-sealed metal "spam tin" (containing 440 rounds) and two metal "spam tins" and a "tin opener" per wooden crate (containing a total of 880 rounds). The wrapping paper is covered with the Russian word Snaiperskie ("Sniper"). It is also embossed on the "spam tins" and crate to indicate its special purpose use.
Shadow of ChernobylEdit
These bullets can be purchased from Petrenko after becoming friendly with Duty. Skinflint will also sell these bullets after becoming friendly with Freedom. Anyone with a sniper rifle will most likely carry these bullets with them, and random boxes may or may not contain these bullets in Yantar, lab X16, and many other locations.
Sakharov will almost always have these bullets in stock, and Ashot can sell them after joining Freedom. The Duty trader in the Red Forest may sell these rounds, and most snipers carry small amounts of these bullets on them.
In Clear Sky, 7N1 rounds use the icon previously used by 7.62x54mm 7N14 rounds in Shadow of Chernobyl.
