|Call of Pripyat||
|“|| The last generation of anomalous activity detector can be used to locate anomalous formations and has a color diode panel, which not only indicates the direction of artifacts, but also measures the distance to them. To switch to artifact search mode, open the device's front cover. Unfortunately the device is programmed with a somewhat outdated list of detectable artifacts.|
- Bear detector Call of Pripyat item description
General description and features Edit
Unlike the Echo detector, the Bear now shows the direction of the artifact and distance with an audio cue. Iit's direction can be found in the lit bars on a circular light display along with the beeping of the Echo detector as one gets closer to the artifact. Overall this is a very good starter detector since it has longer range compared to the Echo and provides a quicker and safer trip of hazardous artifact hunting.
Its primary limitation is it can only detect one artifact at a time. Thus, a player will have to be sure that he obtained all artifacts within a cluster of anomalies. As such, this is time consuming but is still more reliable than the outdated Echo detector.
The Bear can detect every artifact that the Echo can, along with some of the mid-tier health and protection artifacts:
Shadow of Chernobyl Edit
- Main article: UDA-14a universal anomaly detector
Though not available within the game, the Bear Detector is nonetheless included in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl within its code. If somehow obtained it is functional as an anomaly detector but does not provide any artifact-related functionality. It has a dramatically different appearance than what is seen in subsequent S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games.
Clear Sky Edit
The Bear detector normally costs 2000 RU but a free one is given to the player after joining the Loner faction.
Call of Pripyat Edit
The player can also obtain the detector very early in the game by saving or killing Petruha near the Boiler Anomaly (Provided the player's current detector is a Echo detector, else he'll give the player a Fireball that he has just found).
