The Dragunov SVU-A is a unique weapon featured in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl and S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat.

OverviewEdit

This shortened sniper rifle with an increased rate of fire is the next step in the evolution of the SVU sniper rifle. This weapon used to belong to Max, the legendary guardian of Freedom.

PerformanceEdit

This customized Dragunov SVU sniper rifle features an increased rate of fire and lower recoil than the standard gun, while maintaining a higher degree of accuracy. It fires faster than any other 7.62x54mm rifle in the game, and is also the easiest to handle. The accuracy and damage are still worse than the Dragunov SVD, and the magnification of the scope is lower than the SVD. However, the scope can be modified to have a 5x zoom, high contrast lens, second generation night vision device, or an adjustable zoom. Stock accuracy is surprisingly mediocre, but after upgrades the accuracy meter can be maxed out in the inventory. This weapon can be modified to include an integrated silencer, making it the only 7.62x54mm sniper rifle suitable for stealth fire.

This weapon can only be acquired by ordering a sniper weapon from Nimble. Buying this gun, or any from Nimble, triggers a side quest with Snag who will attempt to take your weapon away, claiming it is his.

TriviaEdit

• Despite its shorter length, this weapon does not weigh any less than the normal SVU.
• Nimble mentions that he bought this rifle from Max.
