This futuristic-looking weapon with a bullpup layout is actually a mass produced modular system, comprising a rifle grenade complex with a computerized fire control system and a 40-mm grenade launcher. Despite its bulky appearance, the weapon is highly ergonomic, easy to use and benefits from good technical characteristics.
- Call of Pripyat in-game description

The FT-200M is a 5.56x45mm advanced bullpup assault rifle available in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky and S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat.

OverviewEdit

It is one of the three assault rifles to sport an integrated scope (the others being the GP37 and the IL 86), and one of the two to have an integral underbarrel grenade launcher (the other being the Tunder S14). The FT-200M uses 5.56 caliber and its grenade launcher uses M203 Grenades. In all three games, it is available only towards the end of the game, and is among the best assault rifles of the game, having a more than acceptable damage per shot and very good fire rate.

AppearancesEdit

Shadow of ChernobylEdit

CharacteristicsEdit

The FT-200M is one of the best assault rifles the player can acquire in the game. It has a permanent 1.6x scope attachment as well as a fixed grenade launcher, which makes the FT-200M a very flexible weapon. It has a high rate of fire, great damage, and it's a great choice to pick up one when facing many Monolith soldiers in the CNPP. The weapon, however, has the weight drawback (it weighs 4.6kg unloaded, just lighter than the IL 86) Additionally, because the FT-200M can't be bought from anyone, it is a bit rare to find an FT-200M in perfect or in near-perfect condition at the hands of Monolith stalkers, as these guns are usually either 1/4, 1/3, or 1/2 damaged when typically found.

AcquisitionEdit

The FT-200M can be acquired from dead Monolith experts in the Sarcophagus or in stashes. One expert stalker armed with a FT-200M also makes presence in the Arena, where player has to kill him with only 4 F1 grenades and a knife. His weapon cannot be acquired however, due to the weapon disappearing when the player exits the arena.

Clear SkyEdit

CharacteristicsEdit

The FT-200M is nearly identical in performance to its closest competitor, the GP37. When comparing stats, the FT-200M has marginally better accuracy prior to upgrades. Once modified for marksman purposes it is slightly inferior to the GP37 in terms of accuracy while rate of fire, handling, and damage remain the same. Like Shadow of Chernobyl, it comes with a 1.6x scope and an integrated underslung EGLM grenade launcher, though the player may modify the scope into a long-range 4x variant, as well as fix a silencer to the weapon. This is the only weapon in Clear Sky where the modification of the scope is not necessary for a specific upgrade tree; for example, unlike the GP37 and the IL 86, the player is not required to retard the scope to x1.6 magnification to continue upgrading it for assault purposes.

Acquisition Edit

An FT-200M is given to the player as part of a reward after lowering the bridge to Limansk and can be collected back at the Clear Sky base from Docent Suslov, then upgraded by Novikov all the way to Tier 3, after which it is only second to the SGI 5K in damage, and the GP-37 in accuracy.

Another one is automatically given to Scar when he arrives at the Chernobyl NPP to stop Strelok.

Call of PripyatEdit

CharacteristicsEdit

Along with the Storm it is one of the most expensive guns in the game to purchase, but it is definitely worth the price – compared with its competitors the GP37 and Strelok's SGI-5k, the FT-200M fires marginally quicker and does more damage, although it is less accurate, is heavier, and has more recoil, but still accurate enough for most purposes along with the fact that it comes in with a grenade launcher by default, which the GP37 cannot even mount.

It lacks significant punch compared to other high-end rifles even when fully upgraded, making it not the best sniper analogue, though it compensates for this by boasting one of the highest fire rate (and low recoil) even before upgrades, making it a very useful close-quarters rifle. When fully upgraded for close-quarters, its RPM peaks at just over 900 rounds per minute, more than enough to stun heavily armored enemies and cut them down before they can counter, making it the second fastest firing assault rifle in the game after the Tunder S14. The integral grenade launcher is useful for clearing out rooms or dealing with swarms of zombies, but ammunition is rare to find. As a drawback, the FT-200M cannot attach a silencer, while the deceptively loud report from each shot most certainly earns some attention.

The scope is heavily modifiable, with 4x-zoom, high-contrast, and target-identification upgrades available, making it the only NATO assault rifle capable of distinguishing friend/foe when scoped in, and one of the three weapons to be upgraded with target identification (the two others being the SVDm-2 and the Vintar BC).

Near the end of the game, it becomes the weapon of choice of Mercenary Experts in the Pripyat area, and can be found in the hands of Loners Experts as well, both being easily identifiable by their Exoskeleton armor.

AcquisitionEdit

The FT-200M is a rather rare weapon. It is only seen in the hands of Mercenaries experts in Pripyat and Loners experts, the latter which is much rarer. However, one can still obtain the weapon without having to dispense a single bullet or any money: wait until the wielder gets injured, pick it up before giving the original owner a medkit. As Mercenaries often spawn in Pripyat after having explored Lab X-8, it can be easily acquired with ammo from them. Nimble also has a chance of giving this weapon when the player orders an assault rifle. Hawaiian may also sell it if the player has the A Friend of Freedom achievement coupled with the A Wealthy Client achievement.

NotesEdit

  • There is one quite annoying glitch with the FT-200M in both Clear Sky and Call of Pripyat where holstering the gun is much longer than it should be, making it harder to swap to pistol/other weapon when caught with an empty magazine. This can be fixed in the game code.

DevelopmentEdit

F2000 b

The beta FT-200M, as seen in Build 1114

The FT-200M is one of the first weapons that appeared in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R series. Its textures can be found in Build 1098 and it can be used in Build 1114. However, it had a different model, which is based on a prototype version of the F2000. The model in the released S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games is the final version of the F2000, but the prototype's texture and model is still in the game, showing that it was changed at the last minute.
