The Fast Shooting AKM 74/2 is a unique weapon featured only in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl.

This modified version of the Akm-74/2 provides a faster rate of fire and increased reliability. The location in which it is found may suggest that Strelok's group may have used this weapon prior to their last visit to the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant.
BenefitsEdit
This model is shown as more accurate than the base weapon, but this is due to the much reduced recoil. The single shot accuracy is the same as the Akm-74/2. This weapon is also more reliable than the standard weapon. It should be in the center of the player's arsenal until better assault rifles become available. This model, like the base, can take both the PSO-1 Scope scope and the GP-25 Kostyer Grenade Launcher; making it a truly deadly weapon for use in X-18, and even to X16.
With its fast firing rate, it is a good assault weapon especially if it is mounted with a grenade launcher. Adding a scope will allow it to be a little more accurate against distant targets, but for close range it is better without the scope for a better field of vision. One of its disadvantages is that with its impressive firing rate, it consumes ammunition at an incredible rate, so firing discipline might be necessary if ammo is low. Another disadvantage is that once it is 1/3 damaged, it starts to jam frequently, just like the standard weapon. In addition, a higher fire rate and ammo spending also contributes to it degrading faster than a regular Akm-74/2, unless the user exacts strict trigger discipline.
AcquisitionEdit
The weapon is hidden away in Strelok's group's stash, located in the tunnels beneath the Agroprom Research Institute.
Combat TipsEdit
It's highly recommended to take the AKM-74/2U in Strelok's stash as well, and use that for the rest of the underground (except for the Controller), as well as when clearing out the military at the Institute, as the battle will wear out the Fast Shooting AKM-74/2's durability by a significant factor, thus decreasing its effectiveness in later levels.
