General CharacteristicsEdit

Gauss rounds have perfect performance in nearly every category - and above perfect notably in piercing and armor penetration, giving it the ability to completely ignore any kind of armor in the series. In fact, Gauss rounds perform better against heavier armor, and along with some sniper rounds is one of the only munitions in the game capable of killing multiple targets with one shot. Also they are able to kill the most dangerous mutants in few shots. They consist of encapsulated pieces of the Flash artifact, which supply the energy required to propel the electromagnetic slugs at extreme velocities.

UsageEdit

Gauss rounds are only used by Gauss Rifle.

LocationsEdit

Shadow of ChernobylEdit

Gauss rounds can only be acquired from dead Preachers. They come in small quantities.

Clear SkyEdit

Clear Sky has an early prototype model of the Gauss Rifle, named the EM1 Rifle. It uses a slightly different type of ammunition; Accumulator batteries. They are non lethal and only used to incapacitate electronic devices from very long distances. They are necessary at the end of the game in order to disable Strelok's psy-protection. Ten accumulator batteries can be found in the Military Warehouses as part of a side quest; they must be returned to a Mercenary or a Loner for a few thousand rubles (then you can trade them back for 1000 RU if you want to). At the end of the game, the EM1 Rifle that is given to Scar is loaded with 100 accumulator batteries, and no spares are given.

Call of PripyatEdit

Call of Pripyat contains two types of Gauss rounds; the original high quality type found in Shadow of Chernobyl and lower quality jury rigged batteries made by Cardan. He can only make these after showing him the rifle and bringing him the schematics. While Cardan's batteries still offer the same power and accuracy as the original batteries, they hold only 6 shots each (As opposed to normal Battery's 10) but still weigh 0.50 kg, thus increasing by ~67% the total weight of those rounds. He will sell them for 2000 RU per pack.

The original high quality batteries are very rare, however, you will get two batteries with the gun (One when you pick it up if you discharge it and one another once repaired), and over five of them can be found throughout the game in special Monolith Stashes (Each containing 10 shots). Each of Monolith Stashes contains three Military Medkits and one Battery. In almost all cases the Monolith Stash is marked with a special white symbol - a central dot surrounded by two intersecting ovals. Finally, if you bring Strelok all of his group's documents and have the gauss rifle with you, he will give you two Batteries (if the player does not have the gauss rifle with him/her, he will give 3 Scientific Medkits instead). Beard is the only trader who buys gauss rounds, given that they are related to artifacts. He buys them at a rate of 2000RU per 10 rounds.
