The Old Service Center is a location in Pripyat featured in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat.
Description
This old building is located in the north part of the city, not far from the Prometheus Movie Theater.
The player will visit the building in order to find the Calibration Kit. The first time the player approaches the building, a pseudodog can be seen thrown out of the window. The kit, located on the first floor, is guarded by a Burer. The backroom contains, aside from the Calibration Kit, some interesting loot which includes various types of ammunition (such as two Gauss Rounds and RP-74 ammunition). The staircase to the first floor is at the other side of the room. A stash can be found underneath it containing some VOG-25 Grenades.
In freeplay, random Loners and Mercenaries may explore the building. Considering the proximity of the center with the Theater, it is not uncommon to see Loners/Mercenaries being attacked by Monolith fighters.
Anomaly
Interior
The inside of the building is one of the six anomaly fields of Pripyat. The ground floor and a part of the first floor are filled with static electro anomalies, as well as being heavily irradiated. By default the first artifact to spawn there is a Shell, and electro-based artifacts may rarely spawn in the building. Navigating through is not easy as the area is tight, making the use of a Svarog detector much recommended. There is a small patch of electro anomalies on the first floor, near the staircase, although it is entirely avoidable.
To prevent the player from having to go through the anomaly again, there is a staircase near the backroom that takes the player back to the entrance. The door to the ground floor can only be opened from the inside, although once opened the player can use the staircase to go to the first floor without having to walk through the anomaly.
