Psy emission column is a type of anomaly featured in Clear Sky and Call of Pripyat.

General characteristics

These are very large areas of psy-activity that ascend up to the clouds and are often only visible by the way such columns distort the light that passes through it. In itself harmless, these columns are the visible signs of Psi-emissions, causing light to heavy damage. However, most of the time these columns contain pools of anomalies (Electro are most common) and if no anomalies are present, they are instead coupled with highly irradiated areas. The Psy emission column does not spawn any artifacts. Also, they apear to be artificially created by the Kaymanov emitter. As there are none present in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl, the big Emission ending Clear Sky may have distorted them temporary.

Locations

Clear Sky

In Clear Sky, two examples of these emission columns are seen in the Great Swamp, one in the Garbage near the exit to Red Forest, and one close to the Freedom HQ in the Dark Valley. Another three in Agroprom, one inside the Agroprom Factory, one under a watchtower nearby and the last under a pylon near Agroprom Research Institute. In Yantar, there is one in the north-western corner of the map. Sakharov hints that the ones present in Production complex throughout Clear Sky could be caused by the faulty cooling system of the Miracle Machine. In the Army Warehouses, there is one north-west of the Stalker camp in the north of the area, one in the Monolith helicopter camp in the far north-east of the area, and others under the watchtowers in the military base.

Call of Pripyat

In Call of Pripyat, one can be observed at the Scar anomaly.

Notes

  • The adjacent anomalies are often a source of artifacts protecting against psy damage. These are the following:
