Reputation is a character feature in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl.

Overview

In Shadow of Chernobyl, the player has a reputation value, accessible via the PDA, which can range from excellent to terrible depending on the player's actions. Completing quests for other characters raises the player's reputation, while failing, or refusing to complete quests within the allotted time causes the player's reputation to drop.

Reputation is not an extremely important factor in the game, however two of the game's "bad endings" are determined by the player having either an excellent or a terrible reputation upon reaching the ending.

Trivia

  • A glitch in some versions (including version 1.0005) of Shadow of Chernobyl causes the player's reputation to constantly cycle from excellent to terrible, no matter if the player successfully completes or fails a mission.
  • If the player has a 'terrible' reputation, player may notice a hesitancy or lag in the response from NPCs; notably Barkeep.
