Wiki For the Clear Sky and Call of Pripyat counterpart, see Bulat armored suit.

This Skat-9M bulletproof military suit is designed for assault operations in areas of anomalous activity. It includes a PSZ-12p heavy military bulletproof suit, an integrated compensation suit and a Sphere-12M helmet. It provides perfect protection from bullets and splinters and it doesn't decrease the soldier's mobility. It has a balanced system of anomaly protection.
― In-game description

The Skat-9M military armored suit (lit. "Stingray-9M"), known in-game as the Military armored suit, is a suit of armour that only appears in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl.

Background[]

The Skat-9M is a heavy duty armoured suit used by the Ukrainian military and stalkers hired by it. It is composed of a vest with PSZ-12p armour, a built-in anomaly compensation suit and a Sphere M12 helmet. It is second only to the exoskeleton in terms of protection. The Skat-9M visually resembles the Bulat armored suit that appears other S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games, although it uses a dark color pattern and sports a tactical vest rather than an armored breastplate.

This suit became the military's equivalent of the exoskeleton due to the latter's high cost and numerous problems during its concept stages: it was never issued to them. While not as durable and as protective as the exoskeleton, intensive training of the wearers and superior armaments gives the wearer an edge over stalkers wearing exoskeletons. The Bulat is only fielded by expert operators of the Spetsnaz. Soldiers wearing this armor are relatively rare and can be seen only in Pripyat and the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant.

The suit appears to be a fairly new addition to the Spetsnaz's armory and not yet issued to all operators.

Shadow of Chernobyl[]

As far as environmental hazard protection (radiation and anomalies), the Skat-9M is relatively high, better than the Stalker Suit, but worse than the SEVA suit, PSZ-9Md Universal Protection, SSP-99, and SSP-99M suits, although the Skat-9M is far more durable. As far as splinter and bullet protection, it is slightly worse than the Exoskeleton.

However, it is probably the best jack-of-all-trades armour. While the Exoskeleton costs just as much as the Skat-9M, it has far worse radiation and anomalies protection, and limits running, making it suitable for direct combat but not prolonged exploration. Hazard suits such as the SEVA suit and the SSP-99 outfit are too prone to damage and are weak against stronger creatures, zombies and hostile stalkers. For exploration trips into the complete unknown, the Skat-9M outfit provides the best overall protection against everything. The only net negatives against Skat-9M are its expensive price, heavy weight and first generation nightvision (making it slightly better than the naked eye for low light navigation).

Acquisition[]

The Military armored suit is sold by Barkeep after delivering the Documents from Lab X16 and by Colonel Petrenko after completing the mission Obtain an Bulldog 6 from Freedom.

One can be found in Strelok's hideout in the Pripyat Hotel, although gaining access to the room without the use of glitches requires the player to have spoken to Doc beforehand. There are multiple at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, one behind sandbags outside, one in one of the side rooms inside the Monolith Control Center, and two on the rooftops of the plant.
