Soooooo......how's COP? Is it still buggy like the 2 other games or is it stable enough that you don't need several patches just to play it without excessive crashing? SHIELD unit 09:24, January 18, 2010 (UTC)

I haven't noticed any major bugs, and I play with a translation mod that works with the unpatched version. I like it. David 97 10:04, January 18, 2010 (UTC)

How nice, now all I got to do is wait for a Copy to reach my country...damn the bootleg market is slow these days SHIELD unit 10:10, January 18, 2010 (UTC)

It's extremely stable - I've racked up around 80 hours playing it now (play-through #5~) and the main game itself has only crashed once - any other crashes have been due to modifications I've installed. I'm personally extremely impressed with it, it's definitely the best of the series, and people have actually been playing multiplayer! LonerDeacon 20:18, January 18, 2010 (UTC)

I'm brimming with excitement and anticipation SHIELD unit 04:07, January 19, 2010 (UTC)

If anyone actually reads this... I'm on my fourth playthrough and I am STILL finding new characters and routes through the sidequests I never even thought of (ie. Sliver). And the whole time I've been playing as a good guy, I haven't even tried playing as a baddie yet. I am so glad I put down the money to get a Russian copy. The rest of you are in for a real treat when this game hits stateside. I'm also going through and grabbing as many character profiles as I can to finish up the CoP side of things, or at least putting a dent in it. LonerDeacon 04:47, January 22, 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the great information in the articles. Hopefully I'll finish the game the right way on my first time through. --Boredgunner

To me i have a major problem with the game, whenever i try to enter CoP it says "x.ray engine 1.6 has crashed" i have no idea whats going on to be honest can someone help?Flaming skull of heaven 11:46, September 15, 2010 (UTC)flaming skull

Do you use a mod? Or did you mod the game? Boredgunner 18:34, September 15, 2010 (UTC)
Check Shared Documents\STALKER-COP\logs and analyze the latest log file, it should tell you what causes the game to crash.Personal_Sig_Image.gif Tagaziel (call!) 20:32, September 15, 2010 (UTC)
I didn't use a mod (wanted to play the game un-altered) and my pc has been being a bitch cause it wont start but i will tell when i found out.Flaming skull of heaven 02:21, September 16, 2010 (UTC)flaming skull

Not suitable content[]

I'm placing this stuff here. It's written more like a tip. Maybe we could re-use this somewhere (Gameplay tips sub-pages). Octurion 09:26, May 1, 2010 (UTC)

The first gun you NEED to own is the Eliminator shotgun which is obtainable by ordering a close combat weapon from Nimble - This shotgun combined with a SUSAT scope (ideally a 1.4x or Dawn Scope (yellow tip) will be your stock in trade close combat weapon for the entire game. - When upgrading the Eliminator dont go overboard on rate of fire - the full auto function works well enough and it's slow reload time means you dont want to be wasting ammo - focus on recoil and handling upgrades

Next on the list is an AS_VAL this gun will see you through the first 2 stages of the game and is probably the best all around tier 2 weapon availabe and by far and away the best tier 1 weapon; being able to fill in as a sniper and an assault weapon quite nicely.

Once you reach Yanov/Jupiter you need to do the UAV quest as soon as you can. This will get you the gun by which all others are measured -Strelok's SG-550 Arrow.====

The SG-550 Arrow is far and away the best all around gun in the game and combined with a supressor, SUSAT scope and M203 Grenade Launcher it combines versatility, firepower and easy of ammo supply into what is easily the must have gun of the game

The AS VAL will do you for a sniper weapon for the majority of the game until you obtain the Gauss Rifle- after which all other sniper weapons are fairly redundant

Other weapons worth mentioning are the March USP Compact Pistol which is the best of the single hand weapons in the game and the RG6 - Bulldog Grenade launcher which is a godsend for dealing with chimera and pseudogiants if you don't have the gauss rifle and very hand for flushing out enemy stalkers from cover once you ge the knack of using it

Eliminator? Too heavy and the ammo is too heavy. AS Val? No grenade launcher, ammo too heavy. SG 550? The handling on that is so bad it can only be used as a sniper rifle. And do you plan to carry three different rifles AND the Gauss Rifle AND the RG-6 with you at all times? 62.152.130.63 14:55, February 4, 2011 (UTC)

Ending[]

Okay, I have a question. Can anyone tell me how to get the good ending regarding Garik and Pripyat? In my endings so far he has warned stalkers about the place, but in the better ending he encourages them to explore Pripyat. Boredgunner 23:29, September 14, 2010 (UTC)

You need to finish Garik's quest by delivering those two artifacts to him. That frees him up and allows him to carefully plot the way to Pripyat. I've also heard that you can't let a single soldier apart from Morozov die. Personal_Sig_Image.gif Tagaziel (call!) 20:32, September 15, 2010 (UTC)
The soldiers must survive both the ambush AND the final escape.
I don't know if Morozov can be saved, but i managed to save the other three by assaulting the Monolith forces immediately after my guys take cover in the building and before the preacher gets on the roof. The Monolith soldiers will be in the back rooms of their building in praying trance so at least a group of them can be killed easily. Once you attack they all wake up and charge. The part where Tarasov tells you to look for the weapon on the low ground is skipped.

Artifacts aren't a problem - I always give them to him. But that would explain it - the soldiers get slaughtered by the Monolith ambush and I can't do anything about it. They don't take proper cover and there are too many of them - I even act as a bullet magnet by standing out in the open. Dumbasses! Thanks for the answer. Boredgunner 22:05, September 15, 2010 (UTC)

Adding to this, how can I prevent the AI from killing themselves by improperly throwing grenades? For me a dozen zealots aren't that much of a problem but this is.
SHIELD unit 05:55, September 19, 2010 (UTC)

I'd like to update about the good ending of Garik. Apparently you CAN let one other operator die from Tarasov's squad, excluding Morozov ofc. I still got the good ending even though another operator was killed during the ambush.

Reviews and Special Editions[]

It would be nice to see reviews and a section for special editions here just like on the Clear Sky page for consistency across the board :).

Multiplayer really big problem[]

I need assistance with the multiplayer:

The readme file says that you cannot create a server while being behind a firewall and/or proxy. I have my pc on the dmz of the modem, but i still having the "you may need to open XXXXX port to add the server to the list of servers" on the console after creating the server. One of my friends said "he didnt see my servers in the list"

Please somebody help me, i tried everything (Hamachi, manually opening the servers, DMZ) but nothing works. I really want to play stalker with my friends.

Modifications storyline[]

Very good game. But I still use plot modifications. They make the game more interesting and give a special atmosphere gameplay. Basically I am downloading fashion here - Mods for stalker call of chernobyl
