I'm a medic. A trained brain surgeon. What else would you like to know? I can excise a hypothalamus with laser precision, but I haven't had any such orders in the Zone so far. Here I'm just a regular physician, one of many, who knows his trade well.
― Tremor about himself

Tremor (Ru. Тремор) is the designated medic of the Skadovsk in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat.

Background[]

Tremor was formerly a brain surgeon who suffers from a very rare disease, a hemoglobin addiction. He claims that he could go sometimes for at least a month without drinking blood, but he would sometimes crave for it[quote. 1]. At the clinic where he was working, he would steal excess donor blood to sustain his dependency[quote. 2].

Eventually, he came to the Zone hoping that the harsh environment would force his addiction to the sidelines, but instead he experienced the worst craving of all and could think of nothing else[quote. 3]. He started killing stalkers then eventually began masquerading the deaths as bloodsucker attacks, hoping that it would throw the local Loners off his trail. The disappearances and deaths of stalkers eventually became a major concern for people in the area, leading to Grouse, the Skadovsk's self-designated sheriff, to start investing the matter and hire Danila, one of the local hunters, to go after the bloodsuckers.

Appearances[]

Call of Pripyat[]

Tremor is only found aboard the Skadovsk, in his office across from Owl's shop. He's a rather kind person, and shows a great deal of concern for people who are injured, but seems flighty and nervous, always avoiding company. He has a certain fixed price for his goods - lower then any other medic - and does not charge to patch the player up if he comes in wounded. In the search for the missing hunter, Danila, he can be seen talking to and asking about the wounds of other stalkers in the area - asserting that blood has been sucked from the victims, and only a bloodsucker is capable of such an act.

Shortly after this questioning, he will leave the Skadovsk for parts unknown, and the people inside did not seem to notice his departure - Owl takes over his medical supply business. Eventually, the player is tasked to find Grouse, who has gone missing after discovering something amiss near the Dock cranes. Upon making their way to the cranes, the player will find Danila dead in front of a shack, and upon opening the door is confronted with Tremor tending to a deceased Grouse. Tremor will then explain the reasons for his acts, and then proceed to commit suicide, as he believes his dependency will eventually kill him no matter what. The player can interrupt his monologue at any point and either let Tremor commit suicide, or kill him. The player can then inform Beard about the truth, which earns the player the achievement Detective.

Related missions[]

  • Missing Stalkers: Tremor can be asked about the injuries found on the dead stalkers, though he will only say that only bloodsuckers would be capable of inflicting such wounds. Later on, the player discovers that Tremor was responsible for the killings. The player must either hear Tremor's entire confession and report back to Beard to complete the mission, or bring back his PDA as proof.

Trivia[]

  • Tremor is possibly suffering from Renfield's syndrome or clinical vampirism.
  • Tremor is unusually fragile. Even a single body shot from a PMm would cause him to collapse from wounds, even though regular stalkers with leather jackets can withstand around 4 rounds from the weapon and still stand.
  • He carries a significant amount of medical supplies which can be looted after his death. There is also a safe in the shack containing more supplies.
  • By checking the top of the safe in the shack where Tremor dies, one can see the mandibles of a bloodsucker, probably the tools that Tremor used to cover up his blood draining habit. Of course, Grouse figured out that the marks of a real bloodsucker were different from the wounds that Tremor caused, as he can be heard commentating during the trip through the Krug Antenna Complex that the missing stalkers did not have the claw marks that those in the bloodsucker lair had.
  • Tremor might miss when he tries to shoot himself but still dies anyway

  1. Tremor: "Hemoglobin addiction... I wouldn't wish it on anyone... There's no getting rid of it. Sometimes you feel like you can go a whole month without drinking a drop of blood, and it did happen to me a few times, but then... You explode inside and start making up for lost blood like crazy..."
  2. Tremor: "When I worked at the surgeon clinic, it was easy to cover up. There was always a surplus of donor blood to be had."
  3. Tremor: "I thought that this harsh environment would push my condition to the sidelines. But I was wrong. I experienced the most terrible explosion of all and just couldn't think of anything else."
