The Psi-helmet is a mission item featured in S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl.

Overview[]

The Psi-helmet is a prototype device developed by Professor Sakharov to protect stalkers from the most intense Psi-emissions. During the course of the main story, Strelok acquires one in order to gain access to Lab X-16 and retrieve the Documents from Lab X16. Afterwards, it can be used to explore the Red Forest without taking damage from the Brain Scorcher's emissions.

There are two variants of the psi-helmet that can be acquired: the Functional psi-helmet and the Not adjusted psi-helmet. The only difference between the two is that the non-adjusted variant will not protect the player from the Brain Scorcher as efficiently as the calibrated one does.

Acquisition[]

The psi-helmet is a reward for the mission Take Radiation Measurements in Yantar, although the outcome of the mission affects which version of the helmet Sakharov will give to the player. If Professor Kruglov or Assistant Semenov die before they get the chance to take radiation measurements or get killed on the way back to the lab after the emission, then the player will receive the Not adjusted psi-helmet. Otherwise, successfully escorting Kruglov/Semenov back to safety at Sakharov's lab will net the player the Functional psi-helmet.

Trivia[]

  • The technology developed for the Psi-Helmet becomes widespread by the time of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat - nearly every technician can install a basic variation of it and with additional scans and testing, Novikov is able to refine Sakharov's design to the point that some suits and helmets can be made entirely resistant to any kind of psychic emission.
